As part of Tramlines fringe weekend at The Dorothy Pax, we’re very pleased to announce that The Cuckoo Clocks (seminal psychedelic country-soul 6 piece) are curating the outdoor stage for Canal Lines from 5pm Friday evening. The Cuckoo Clocks will be performing a special one hour set as the sun goes down next to the beautiful Victoria Quays.
In true festival spirit there will be drink and food vendors aplenty with representatives from Moritz, Puerto De Indias strawberry gin and O’Haras rum, plus delicious food served by Fancy an Indian, Sunshine Pizza Oven and more.
Thanks to our sponsors the whole weekend is free entry.
We look forward to seeing you!
The Cuckoo Clocks are a six piece group formed in Sheffield in 2006. They have curated many of their own gigs over the years including a now legendary sell out show at the historic Abbeydale Picture House Cinema with a 17 piece orchestra for BBC Music day in 2017. “There’s something elemental about the music of Cuckoo Clocks, the counterpoint of Tracy Deakin’s powerful vocal balanced by Paul Infanti’s knowing tones, the compelling blend lifted aloft by soaring six point harmonies. There are natural comparisons to be made: Rumours-era Fleetwood Mac (if Mick and co had gained an appreciation of the Balearic impact), hypnotic swathes of West Coast psychedelia, country tinged soul with a nod to folk electronica, hints of Fairport Convention or Arthur Lee’s Love all aired to dry in a post industrial Northern city. Lyrical narratives tell of momentary insights gained from lifelong journeys, of longing and fulfilment. Tales of love and separation, unity and redemption. A band who sound like freedom might feel, untethered by the fickle tastes of contemporary music fads, produced by people long enough in the tooth to be unashamed to showcase their considerable talent. ” Tim Homes Festival 23. https://thecuckooclocks.co.uk https://www.facebook.com/thecuckooclocks/
