We are very pleased to announce and welcome GRIMM GRIMM to the Dorothy Pax on Friday 21st February! Free Entry!
Fresh off a tour opening for Cate le Bon last November, who invited him for the entire European dates she has lined up including Sonic City and Le Guess Who? Festivals, this show part of a european tour in support of his latest full length release ‘Ginormous’ on Tiptop recordings. The record is the next chapter in a trilogy of self-discovery; a compendium of sonically astute storytelling where nightmares and dreams meet via French yé-yé and Casio beats.
Grimm Grimm is the solo singer-songwriter-experime
“Cinematic in tone and rendering, it seems to set the cameras rolling and then present a beatific version of his own life” – Clash
“Gently phased guitar strums ripple beneath an exotic acoustic lead line as Yamanoha’s breathless vocals bear a striking resemblance to Elliott Smith’s beautifully melancholy tones” – The Mosts Radicalist
“It is as if Yamanoha has decided to pen a series of letters to his younger self” – Louder Than War
“‘Honest’ is perhaps the best way to describe this album, as its charm can certainly be pinpointed to an innocence, its lack of pretension toward superficially loftier concepts or ambitions. Though the album is abstract and intriguing, it does so with a childlike imagination of love and the apocalypse” – Folk Radio
“Innocence feels like a rare quality in music these days” – The Quietus
“Eternal, acid-washed bliss” – NME
“Mixing together the harsh, melancholic beauty of Nico, Green World ambience, the tunefulness of classic pop, and the otherworldliness of Joe Meek” – Honest Jon’s
